Children aged 3–5 years and their grown-ups take a journey through current exhibitions. Join a small safari of eight little ones and an artist educator, playing games, sharing stories and exchanging ideas along the way.

Experience a gallery tour customised to your unique interests with your little one.

Our Art Baby tours are perfect for parents with babies under 12 months old. This unique tour is divided into two sections: first, 45-minute gallery tour which invites grown-ups to experience exhibition MCA Collection: Perspectives on Place with their little ones. Afterwards, the mini art lovers will enjoy a 30-minute tummy-time session on our handmade multi-sensory art blanket. All babies must be under 12 months of age. Get creative in an ARTplay session for children 0–5 years and their grownups. Led by MCA Artist Educators, kids and families are invited to join in and get creative, enjoying stories and songs in Auslan (Australian Sign Language), making artworks inspired by MCA Collection artists, and enjoying a range of exhibition-related games and toys.

Whales are known for their migratory patterns. This year, from 11th August to 24th September a few are taking a detour. Discover all 30 whale tails along a 6km trail around Sydney’s Western Harbour waterfront.

Earth’s oceans were home to some of the largest, fiercest and most successful predators ever. While dinosaurs ruled the land, giant reptiles and sharks hunted the depths.

Returning for a limited season, our hugely popular Sea Monsters exhibition combines real fossils from millions of years ago, gigantic replicas including a 13m long Elasmosaurus and 9m Prognathdon, hands-on interactives to make your own monster, dress ups, dino poo and much more!Our past review in January 2020 here. This tenth year of the Young Archie competition, which started in 2013, saw a record number of entries (2400 entries (70 selected as finalists + 20 honourable mentions) as well as the largest number of finalists ever exhibited at the Art Gallery of NSW, from 14 May to 24 August 2022.
