Nintendo Osaka Store - Daimaru Umeda Store - Review

On our day trip to Osaka this month, we headed to the Nintendo Osaka store in the Daimaru Umeda Store which is located about 5 minutes from the central exit of the JR Osaka Station. The floor also houses a Pokemon store as well as other stores.

The Nintendo Osaka store had the must haves for the various Nintendo games but unlike the Nintendo Kyoto store we visited earlier in our trip, the Nintendo Osaka store had some cool Donkey Kong merchandise to celebrate the opening of the Donkey Kong ride at Universal Studios Osaka and a new game release Donkey Kong Country Returns released 16th January 2025.

This store also had some special Donkey Kong merch which Nintendo fans could grab depending on their purchases (see staff for details).

Apart from the Donkey Kong merchandise which took up some floor space, we also found the usual suspects merchandise of Splatoon and Animal Crossing as well as Pikmin. There were some little cute Pikmin figurines hiding in the store too.

We also saw fidget type Nintendo controllers which you could grab from capsule machines (similarly to Kyoto store) and various other controllers options from the capsule machines and cashier.

Before you leave, don’t miss a cute photo opportunity in front of OG Mario around the left side of the store front.
