Music & Movement Classes - We Rock The Spectrum - Review

Late last year, Kate’s little ones loved their session at the We Rock The Spectrum Kids Gym Headquarters in Preston (see their review here), so when they found out the centre was offering Music & Movement Classes, they couldn’t wait to review a session! Thanks for the review Kate xo Catherine

After the huge success of the opening of their first Australian sensory gym in Preston, We Rock The Spectrum have recently launched classes and therapy groups to provide an opportunity for children to explore and experience different practices in a safe and supportive environment.

Musician and teacher, Jackie Bornstein facilities their fun-filled Music & Movement classes where children of all abilities are guided to participate in exciting musical activities that gently promote emotional regulation and social, communication and motor skills development.  Plus each class includes 30-60 additional minutes of open play for FREE.

With numbers limited to 10 participants, each of Jackie’s classes will see children engaged in vocal fun, dancing, percussion and rhythm with the use of instruments, soft play materials, games and sensory items.

Each week Jackie will introduce a ‘musical tip’ for parents/carers to use with their child at home.

Parents and carers are invited to engaged in classes, supporting and sharing musical experiences with their child.  If at any time little people need to take some time out or leave the room, that’s absolutely fine.

Our visit saw the poppets banging on drums, singing new songs (as well as a few oldies), shaking and stomping with musical instruments and waving and running under the brightly coloured parachute.  By far their favourite activity was playing with the silk scarves. They loved the peek-a-boo games, swooshing them from side to side, hiding them under various body parts and turning them into popping popcorn. So much fun!

Classes are conducted on Fridays and Saturdays with three classes available for different age groups (1-3 years, 3-5 years and Primary School). All classes are suitable for verbal and non-verbal children.
